China's manned spaceflight launches second spacewalk of Shenzhou 20 crew
At 21:29 on June 26, 2025 Beijing time, after about 6.5 hours of extravehicular activity, the Shenzhou 20 crew members Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui, and Wang Jie worked closely together with the support of the space station's robotic arm and ground researchers to successfully complete the designated mission. The extravehicular astronauts Chen Dong and Chen Zhongrui safely returned to the Wentian experimental module, and the extravehicular activity was a complete success.
During the extravehicular activity, astronauts Chen Dong and Chen Zhongrui completed tasks such as installing space debris protection devices on the space station, inspecting and disposing of extravehicular equipment and facilities. They also successfully installed foot limit adapters and interface adapters on the extravehicular platform, which helps improve the efficiency of extravehicular operations for astronauts. As a result, the duration of subsequent extravehicular activities is expected to be shortened by about 40 minutes.
At present, the various space science experiments undertaken by the crew are steadily advancing, and in the future, the focus will be on conducting space science research and technology experiments in fields such as space life sciences, microgravity basic physics, space materials science, aerospace medicine, and new aerospace technologies.
